There’s no doubt about it, one of the most important and overlooked parts of email marketing is deliverability.
And in this blog post, I’ll be going over all the tools I’ve used in the past to help with this.
If you want to understand the specifics of how to improve email deliverability (Without using tools), you can click here to check out the resource I created where I go over how to do so.
So, here is a list of tools you can use to help increase the profits from your list and a brief description of what each one does.
Quick Summary of the tools
> Send Score: A website that provides a reputation score for email senders, and helps you assess the trustworthiness of your email communications.
> Mx Tool Box: Offers various tools and diagnostic tests to analyze and troubleshoot your email delivery issues.
> Mail Tester: Allows you to test the spam score and deliverability of your email by simulating a real email recipient.
> NeverBounce: Provides you with email verification services to help your businesses maintain a clean and accurate email list.
Want to know if you’re SPF and MX records are valid?
Then Send Score is what you need.
It’s super simple to use, all you have to do is enter the domain name of the email you’re sending from and then it’ll give you all the information you need to know:
Here’s an example:
Enter the domain name you want to check:
And once this is done, this is what it gives you –
Simple and easy way to find out if your MX and SPF records are valid.

Mx ToolBox
Mx Toolbox serves a similar purpose as Sender Score, however, it has a few more features that I like to use.
One, in particular, is Email health which gives you a full breakdown of everything that could be wrong with your domain name.
Here are all the features they have:
When you use the ‘Email Health‘, here’s what it breaks down:
As you can see, this is for my Email Maximalist domain, and clearly a few things need fixing!
And below this, it breaks down each thing you need to know about.
Super informative and clearly shows everything you need to fix.

Mail Tester
Now, this is one of my favorite tools out of the whole list.
Mail Tester reports on a whole range of different email metrics that are important to know.
Everything ranges from the spamminess of your emails to checking to see if your domain is on any blacklists.
Here’s how it works:
- Go to https://www.mail-tester.com/ and you’ll be shown an email address.
- Copy and paste the email address and send it an email from the domain you want to check.
And in this same message, test the email and subject line of the contents you’ll be sending out.
Doing this will allow you to see if there’s anything wrong with your domain name and test your email to see if it triggers any spam filters.
So, you’re killing two birds with one stone.
You’ll then be shown a breakdown of everything, I’ve just done one as an example, take a look:
First, it gives you an overall score for everything as you can see:
And then just below, it gives you a detailed breakdown of everything you need to know.
Take a look –
As you can see, it breaks down as follows:
- Check the spamminess of your email.
- Checks to see if your domain has been authenticated.
- Checks to see how the messaging of your email could be improved.
- Any broken links.
- And checks to see if you’re on any blacklists.
Out of all the tools I’ve recommended on this list, Mail Tester is by far my favorite and most reliable.

NeverBounce
Neverbounce is a brilliant service for helping you verify the email addresses that you’re sending out to.
Oftentimes, if you’re building out your email list and you’re doing this through lead magnets, for example, people can sometimes use dud email addresses just to get the freebie.
Or if you’re building out a lead list of people you want to contact via cold email, the email addresses that you’re finding might not be the ones that they’re using.
And every time you send an email and it bounces, this can affect the health of your domain name.
So, it’s always important to run the email addresses that you’re sending to through Neverbounce to make sure they’re legit.
Here’s a screenshot as an example:
Another cool feature of this is that it integrates with a lot of different software, take a look:
Using this tool is perfect if you’re using softwares like ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, or Aweber.
