Flodesk Review – Read this before making your decision…

Table of Contents

Introduction:

As of late, I’ve been using Flodesk for a number of clients and I’ve been surprised at how good it is.

Whether it be the surprisingly good features of the analytics or the ease of use with some of the segmenting.

So, in today’s review, I’ll be going over the good, the bad, and everything in between, and more importantly –

Whether it’s a good fit for you. So, let’s get started!

In a rush? Here's a quick summary?

Here’s a quick summary for you if you’re pushed for time:

  • Is it worth it? Short answer – Yes. If you’re someone who values design more than anything, then Flodesk is for you.
  • Competitive pricing: The pricing for Flodesk is not like most. What I mean is that most email marketing software works on a sliding scale while Flodesk does not. It’s one price for all subscribers, so it doesn’t matter if you have 100 subscribers or 10,000 subscribers – then the cost is the same.

  • Perfect for beginners: If you’re someone who’s new to email marketing, then Flodesk is a perfect option. It’s easy to use even if you’ve never done any form of email marketing before.

  • No free plan: With Flodesk, there’s no free plan, but there is a 30-day free trial. So, if you’re in two minds about whether to use it or not, you can use the 30-day free trial to see if it’s what you like.

Flodesk pros and cons:

Pro's:

✅ Flat rate for any number of subscribers, so if you have 5,6,7k subscribers, you’ll be paying the same amount regardless which is good as some other software work on a sliding scale.

✅ Super simple and easy to get to grips with if you’re someone who’s new to the whole email marketing space.

✅ They have a wide range of email templates that you can pick from to suit your needs and what you want.

cons

I’d also say that the first pro to Flodesk (The pricing) is also a con, here’s why: if you have for example less than 100 subscribers, you’d be paying the same amount as someone who has 10 thousand. And with some other email software, you’d be paying considerably less or maybe nothing at all.

Flodesk doesn’t have a free trial, unlike other software like MailerLite or Convertkit.

❌ There are not as many advanced features as something like Convertkit or Activecampaign.

What are the main features of Flodesk?

Below I cover some of the main features in Flodesk that I use and that you’ll most likely use.

Take a look –

Email Campaigns

This is possibly one of the best features of Flodesk that I’ve found…

And it’s how easy and simple it is to send emails with Flodesk.

With some other email software, it can be a nightmare to do something as simple as sending out a broadcast email.

Well, this is certainly not the case with Flodesk.

As you can see from the Screenshot below, there are 4 stages of sending a broadcast email –

Each specifc step in the Flodesk Process for email campaign

Choose Template> Design Email > Choose Audience > And then send.

But what’s even better about Flodesk is how easy it is to send to specific subscribers…

Simple and easy to use segmentation for when sending out emails

I’ve had experiences with some other email software that makes this process much harder than it needs to be.

But when you have access to something like this, you can make the experience for your subscribers a lot more personal which will no doubt allow you to improve your relationship with them as well as generate as much profit as possible.

Email Sequences

Flodesk’s email automation (They’re called ‘Workflows’ in Flodesk) are pretty simple to use like most email software.

If it’s something that you’ve never done before, it may take 10-20 minutes plus a couple of YouTube videos to figure it out, but after that, you should be good to go.

Not only that but Flodesk also provides a number of different templates for your ‘Workflows’ if this is something you struggle with.

These include:

  • Welcome sequence

  • Nurture Sequence

  • Lead Magnet delivery

  • And sales sequence.

All the basic ones you need to get started. The only negative is that they’re lacking some more advanced automation like ‘if a recipient clicks on this link, send them X, Y and Z email’ for example.

Landing pages

On Flodesk, they call them ‘forms’ but they’re essentially just landing pages.

They have a few different templates that you can choose from which include:

  • Pop up
  • Social form
  • Inline
  • And full-page

All are slightly different so they cater to your needs.

But using these landing pages is perfect if you’re someone who consistently wants to improve their subscriber opt-in rate…

Having all of these different forms allows you to continually split test until you find the most effective form possible.

This is essential when building your email list.

Email Designs

This is the creme de la creme of Flodesk.

If you’re someone who wants to take full advantage of design-heavy emails, then Flodesk is your best option.

I saw someone say – “Fldoesk is the Canva of email marketing” and I’d have to agree.

Check out some of the email templates they have –

So if you’re someone who wants to hammer the design-heavy emails, then Flodesk is an ideal option.

Email Analytics

Now I’m going, to be honest, the analytics that Flodesk provides is pretty amazing and took me by surprise.

Some of these analytics that you have access to include:

  • What days are best to send out to your email list
What days are best to send out emails

Who your top performing subscribers are.

Subscriber performance

And another section shows subscriber growth.

And that’s just a handful of some of the metrics they show you.

What is the pricing?

Flodesk is possibly one of the few email marketing software out there whose pricing DOES NOT work on a sliding scale.

With most ESPs (Email-sending providers) like for instance – Convertkit, their pricing works on a sliding scale which means that the more email subscribers you have, the more you will have to pay.

But with Flodesk, this is not the case.

Flodesk has a fixed price for everything which you can see in the screenshot below:

Monthly pricing structure for Flodesk

As you can see above, this is the cost if you were to be paying per month.

But there is a cheaper option if you DO decide to pay annually which looks like the below:

Annual pricing structure for Flodesk

Unfortunately, Flodesk doesn’t have a free plan.

But there is a 30-day free trial you can use to see if you like it.

And if that’s something you want to take advantage of, then make sure you click the button below.

Is it worth it?

Short answer – Yes.

With it costing $38 per month and giving everything it provides, I would say it’s most definitely worth it.

It’s simple, easy to use, and perfect for anyone who’s new to the whole email marketing space.

And it’s even better for people who like to create design-heavy emails.

So, if that sounds like something you’re interested in, then make sure you click the button below –

No, Flodesk does not have a free plan but they do have a 30-day free trial.

Flodesk has a flat rate for everyone. If you’re paying monthly, it costs anywhere from $38 to $64 per month.
